Welcome to the Serenity Room
This space is designed for faculty, staff, and students,
The Serenity Room is located in the Center for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion in the Main Building Room MA1150. This space is available to all members of the GateWay community for private, personal, and spiritual reflection, or other forms of self-care, such as stretching, meditating, or simply having a few minutes of silence alone. Our room is equipped with mats, soft seating, a white noise machine, adjustable low lighting, calming imagery, and a mood meter.
To make sure everyone can use this space, please limit your time in the Serenity Room to 10 minutes. Food, beverages, and open flames are prohibited in the room.
Mindfulness is Beneficial
Students who practice mindfulness can be more successful at achieving their educational and life goals. Longitudinal studies indicate that mindfulness has several benefits:
- Trains attention
- Increases concentration
- Reduces stress
