Phoenix, AZ – Creativity took center stage at the GateWay Community College (GateWay) Deer Valley campus, where beauty school students showcased their exceptional talents in the highly anticipated Hairextravaganza competition. This dynamic event celebrated the artistry of cosmetology, featuring a bold fusion of hair, fashion, nails, and makeup in an avant-garde-themed showcase.

With a focus on innovation, technical skill, and artistic expression, six students from the GateWay Cosmetology program competed for the top prize. A diverse panel of judges—including fellow students, GateWay staff, and community members—lent their expertise to select the winner, ensuring a spirited and inclusive competition.

After an electrifying display of creativity, Alejandra Alvarado-Monserrath was crowned the Hairextravaganza champion. Her visionary work earned her a prize bag filled with professional-grade salon products, recognizing her outstanding talent and dedication to the craft.

“I’m incredibly proud of Alejandra and all the students who participated in Hairextravaganza,” said Rachel Boroff, GateWay Cosmetology instructor. “These competitions inspire students to push creative boundaries—an essential skill in the ever-evolving beauty industry.”

Held on February 26, 2025, Hairextravaganza provided a valuable platform for emerging beauty professionals to showcase their skills, gain hands-on experience, and celebrate the limitless possibilities of cosmetology.
