On April 23, 2024, GateWay Community College (GWCC) welcomed Deputy Secretary of Commerce, Don Graves, as part of his tour of the Valley. The tour included a roundtable discussion at GateWay’s Central City campus on the role Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSIs) play in assisting underserved populations begin careers in high-demand industries.
Joined by representatives from Maricopa County Community College District and HSI leaders, the discussion emphasized the role HSIs play in expanding access to postsecondary education and how graduates help address the workforce gaps in key sectors, contributing to economic growth and innovation.
