One of the hallmarks of excellence in two-years colleges is the recognition and reward of excellence in teaching.
GateWay Community College is excited to announce a new award to celebrate its valued faculty members. In cooperation with the VPAAs office and faculty leadership, the GateWay Outstanding Achievement in Teaching (GOAT) Award has been established to recognize and support excellence in teaching.
The recipient of this award will be chosen by a committee of peers, based on a screen process, submitted supporting paperwork, and classroom observation. Recipients will receive a GOAT medallion at the conclusion of the spring semester at the End of Year Employee Celebration and funding in the amount of $1,500 to be used towards teaching-focused professional growth opportunities such as conferences or seminars for the following fiscal year. The annual GOAT awardee will be expected to share their methods and techniques with other faculty at a future Day of Learning.
To be eligible for the GOAT Award, nominees must be appointive, residential (full-time) faculty teaching at GateWay Community College. Nominees must demonstrate excellence in teaching and a sustained contribution to the students and the college and community. Any student, employee, alumnus of GateWay Community College, or any member of the community may submit nominations for the GOAT Award.
GOAT nominations are due Feb. 15, 2025.
