GateWay Community College is excited to announce the recipients of the Gene Haas Scholarship for the spring 2024 cohort. This scholarship, funded by the Gene Haas Foundation, continues to support students in the CNC Machining program at GateWay's Central City campus by providing crucial financial aid for their educational expenses.

The Gene Haas Foundation has a longstanding tradition of supporting educational institutions, communities, and charitable organizations. Their partnership with GateWay underscores their commitment to expanding access to high-quality manufacturing technology training worldwide. Through generous scholarship grants and strategic partnerships with top CNC training programs, the Gene Haas Foundation plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of the manufacturing industry.

"I fell on hard times and had to sell my car to make ends meet," shared student Jason Marquez. “This scholarship is going to help me get out of the hole. I will be able to purchase my tools and eventually save up to buy a new car."

For the spring 2024 semester, 11 students have been awarded $1,000 scholarships. These funds can be used for tuition, textbooks, and essential supplies, such as personal tooling. For many students, the scholarship represents more than just financial aid; it symbolizes a path to a brighter future. One such student is Frank Iron, who shared his heartfelt gratitude for the scholarship and its impact on his life:

"This scholarship is going to help me escape poverty," Iron expressed. "I hope to return to college one day and to do so I need to have a good career, which is why I chose machining."

GateWay's CNC Machining program equips students with the practical skills and technical knowledge necessary to excel in the manufacturing sector. The program is designed to prepare students for immediate employment as skilled machinists, addressing the industry's growing demand for qualified professionals. By offering a comprehensive curriculum and state-of-the-art equipment, GateWay is committed to bridging the skills gap and fostering the next generation of manufacturing experts.

The Gene Haas Foundation's recognition highlights the instructors' dedication and excellence in the precision machining program.
