GateWay Environmental and Water Resource Technology student Adam Signoretta was recently awarded the AWWA Operator Scholarship through the American Water Works Association. The American Water Works Association is an international, nonprofit, scientific and educational society dedicated to providing total water solutions assuring the effective management of water.
The AWWA Operator Scholarship is intended to offer water and wastewater operators funding to continue their training and is open to all students in the Water Resource Technology who were seeking a two-year or four-year degree.
After a successful career in the fitness industry, Signoretta was no stranger to awards. He has previously won bodybuilding shows, strongman competitions, and even tried his hand at ultra-distance running.
“I enjoy seeking out new and adventurous opportunities, but nothing scared me more than returning to school at the age of 35 after being out of the class room for 17 years,” said Signoretta. “Needless to say, it was greatly humbling and an honor to not only apply, but to win on my 36th birthday!”
“I moved to Arizona from New Jersey with nature on my mind, and I want to be in a position where I can continue to do my part in helping to preserve and maintain our ecosystem and environment,” Signoretta said.
Moving forward, Adam plans on completing his ADEQ Operator’s Exam and start his career in waste water treatment. Additional future plans include pursuing his Bachelor’s in Environmental Science.
