Featured #GateWayGrad Léonille Maniraguha
Léonille started her GateWay journey after coming from Rwanda.
She came to America two years ago and decided to go back to school; it was not easy as she completed all of her previous schooling in French. She started to learn English so she was able to speak and understand English in her classes.
She decided to continue her studies and enrolled in the Respiratory program at GateWay, even after starting off as a major in accounting and management. At that time a language barrier became an issue, she struggled with some of the course reading and it took longer to complete some of the material. But, her professors stepped up and helped her learn new ways to understand the material and walked with her every step of the way.
After accomplishing so much, Léonille had this to say, "I want to take this opportunity to encourage everyone who may experience some of the same academic struggles as me to be open and ask for help. Our teachers are amazing and helpful people. They are devoted to help students in improving academic performance. Do not be shy or scared seeking help, they are there for you and will help you succeed!"
Congratulations Léonille!
