GateWay Community College has come a long way from its humble beginnings in the former Korrick’s Department Store in Phoenix. Starting as Maricopa Technical College, the educational institution focused on preparing individuals to enter the workforce, transfer to a university or pursue their entrepreneurial dreams. The first class of future professionals graduated in May 1969.
While GateWay Community College looks back on its legacy of innovation, pioneering vision and responsiveness to the needs of the community, it continues to have an eye on a future that is focused on developing programs and courses that are relevant to tomorrow’s professionals, using virtual reality, simulation labs, or next generation equipment and tools for educating and training.
The community is invited to learn about GateWay’s history as well as celebrate this significant milestone by attending one of the following free events during the spring.
