GateWay Community College’s Testing & Assessment Center has expanded its services to offer Information Technology certification exams.
Students in GateWay’s IT program can earn certificate and associate degrees in Cisco Networking, Computer Information Systems, Linux Professional, Microsoft Networking Administrator and Microsoft Technical Specialist. Courses in the program help prepare students for the certification exams.
“Now our students can go from starting the program, to completing the program, to being certified in the program, right here, all at GateWay,” says Testing Center Coordinator Lisa Ford.
Computer and Networking Technologies Program Director Wyatt Johnson worked with Ford to bring the certification exams to campus.
“This makes us a one stop shop for training and certifications such as Cisco CCNA, CompTIA Security+ and Linux+,” says Johnson.
GateWay’s Testing Center is a Pearson VUE Authorized Test Center. In addition to the IT certification exams, the Testing Center also offers GED testing services, English as a Second Language (ESL or CELSA) testing and other academic and vocational tests for students and community members.
More than 80 IT certification exams are offered. Students can register for the exam, pay and choose GateWay as the testing location at http://home.pearsonvue.com.
“Then all they have to do is show up here to take the exam,” Ford says.
Testing services are located in the Integrated Education Building, IE1252 near Enrollment Services. Exams are offered Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. For more information, visit www.gatewaycc.edu/testing, call (602) 286-8160 or email testing@gatewaycc.edu.
