The Maricopa Community College District partnered with a career services company this fall, making it possible for GateWay Community College and its sister colleges to offer a new career planning tool to students and the surrounding community.
The new Maricopa Career Planning System provides various tools not available on campus before in one career planning system, rather than using multiple applications. Some of the tools include research-based assessments, portfolio development, education and occupation exploration and planning, workforce preparation, and database management resources.
“We are thrilled to be able to provide the Maricopa Career Planning System to GateWay students and the community,” said Kerry Sanderson, director of the GateWay Career Center. “It will be instrumental in helping our students determine a program based on their interest and strengths.”
The Maricopa Career Planning System will deliver customized career planning guidance so users can set relevant academic and career goals that better allow them to plan for their future.
“Maricopa Community Colleges is excited to utilize the new Maricopa Career Planning System tool to increase student success and enhance service our colleges and skill centers deliver," said Randy Kimmens, director of Workforce Development, Maricopa Community Colleges. “The system will structure the opportunity for Maricopa Community Colleges to provide students with the support to make decisions about their careers and further their education.”
GateWay is in the process of rolling out the new system and should have it fully implemented by the spring semester. In addition to the system being available to students, faculty, staff and the community are welcome to use it as well.
