THE HUG CLINIC

The GateWay Community College HUG Clinic serves a dual purpose as a training opportunity for our students entering careers in Respiratory Therapy, Physical Therapist Assisting, Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Occupational Therapy Assisting and Therapeutic Massage. It is also a lifeline to medically indigent community members without the resources to pay for this specialty care.

The typical HUG patient has no health insurance, or has exhausted the limited visits their insurance provides. HUG is about quality of care – not quantity. HUG treats patients with chronic diseases and injuries, so the majority of our patients require multiple treatment visits. We work with our patients for as long as they need us – and they don’t pay a penny, no matter how long it takes.

Testimonials

Hannah Brennan

Hannah

“Working on Hustle for HUG as my capstone project was a rewarding experience that helped me gain skills in event planning, community involvement, and school team building. Proper healthcare should be available for every individual and working on a project that helps bring that to the Phoenix community was so important to me. I am thankful that the capstone projects, NAU, and the HUG clinic brought about an opportunity to be involved in serving the underserved through healthcare.”                                                                           – Hannah Brennan

Juan testimonial

Juan

"The HUG Clinic gave me my life back. The people at HUG went beyond professionalism. They were attentive to my needs and helped me achieve my rehabilitation goals. Today I can live without an oxygen tank and walk well enough to return to work."

                                                                              – Juan, Respiratory Care Patient
