Plumbing Journeyworker

If you have earned a Journeyworker card from a registered Plumbing Apprenticeship, you may be eligible to receive college credit for the learning and expertise you already have toward an Associate in Applied Science (AAS) in Construction Trades: Plumbing degree.

  • If eligible, you will receive 40 credits for prior learning. You must complete a minimum of 15 credits toward the requirements for the AAS degree at GateWay Community College. 

    • Tuition information for the remaining classes can be found here.

    • There is a $500 administrative fee for the processing of the PLA application, which is not financial aid eligible.

Get Started

In order to receive Credit for Prior Learning, you will need to:

  1. Submit a valid Plumbing Journeyworker Card to the GateWay Apprenticeships Office at gwc.apprenticeships@gatewaycc.edu with the subject line “Plumbing Journeyworker Card for Verification.”  They will contact the AZ State Office of Apprenticeships and verify that your Journeyworker Card meets the requirements.
  2. Upon verification, meet with an Advisor to:
    1. Become an active GateWay Community College student with an eligible Construction Trades - Mechanical Trades: Plumbing AAS degree listed as your declared major. GateWay holds One-Stop Sessions for advising, placement testing, enrollment, applying for financial aid, etc. When we have verified your Plumbing Journeyworker Card we will send you the link.
  3. There is a $500 administrative fee for the processing of the PLA application, which is not financial aid eligible.
