Apprenticeships

In the current workforce environment, many employers are increasingly thinking about registered apprenticeships as a solution to hiring and retaining skilled employees.  They also quickly become overwhelmed by the cumbersome and confusing process to begin and maintain a Registered Apprenticeship.

GateWay Community College’s Apprenticeships Office can help do the heavy lifting and minimize the amount of time and effort you spend on the creation, implementation, and maintenance of a Registered Apprenticeship, so that you can enjoy an over 90% employee retention rate after the completion of an apprenticeship.

What is a Registered Apprenticeship?

A Registered Apprenticeship is a job first, with an employer who hires apprentices they want to invest in and retain for the long term.  The On-the-Job Training (OJT - the full time job part of the apprenticeship) is paired with Related Technical Instruction (RTI - the classroom learning part of the apprenticeship) to enable apprentices to become experts in their field.

Apprenticeships typically range from 1 to 4 years of full time work, with classroom learning typically 2 evenings a week, and result in an industry recognized credential.
